TSOP1838 IR Receiving Head Sensor, miniaturized infrared receiver for remote control applications.
The TSOP1838 IR Receiving Head is a miniaturized infrared receiver purpose-built for remote control applications, combining a PIN photodiode and a preamplifier IC on a single lead frame inside an epoxy package with a built-in IR filter. This construction gives it strong performance even in environments with significant ambient light interference, and it includes protection against uncontrolled output pulses that could otherwise trigger false signals.
Because the demodulated output can be fed directly into a microprocessor without extra signal conditioning, the TSOP1838 (closely related to the TSOP382/TSOP38238 family) is an easy way to add infrared remote reception to Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or other microcontroller-based projects. It is compatible with common IR remote data formats such as NEC code and RC5 code, and works reliably at the standard 38kHz carrier frequency used by the vast majority of consumer IR remotes.
- Supply Voltage – 3.0V or 5.0V
- Carrier Frequency – 38kHz
- Compatible Codes – NEC code, RC5 code
- Logic Compatibility – TTL and CMOS compatible
- Construction – Photodetector and preamplifier in one package
- Shielding – Internal shield with high immunity to ambient light and electric field disturbance
- Typical Uses – Remote controls, optical switches, AV equipment, set-top boxes, home appliances
Reliable, well-shielded, and easy to interface, the TSOP1838 IR Receiving Head Sensor is a solid choice for any project that needs to respond to a standard infrared remote.
